This research explores the secrets of patterns and traditional crafts combined with current technology. Tomorrow's medium started with curiosity about 3D printing material. The first step of this project was to create a 3D printing lab. The 3D prints grew into experiments that explored how rigid plastic can become flexible like fabric. The goal was to make 3D printed objects change into flexible organic forms.
This became possible by creating three different techniques: pattern infill, knitting and loop. The installation shows the three different material swatches. The material can be moved, stretched and bent, which is ideal when Tomorrow's medium is applied to fabric, nets and room dividers. Tomorrow's medium is an ongoing research of 3D printed material.
